I've been meaning to edit my sticky intro post and finally got around to doing that. I figured during the Snowflake Challenge would be a good time to do a bit of housekeeping with there likely being an influx of people visiting my blog. It's mostly the same info in a different format, but I also added my Storygraph link there. Not sure if anyone here uses it that much, but that's the place to go if you're interested in stalking the BL I read lol. I haven't been reading much else lately.

I haven't picked up any games these past few days (other than Genshin) in favor of writing or trying to do adulting tasks. I've been feeling a weird mix of anxious and lethargic over the past week. I'm probably a bit depressed since I don't have much reason to be outside on my days off. My brain prefers to be busy, I think. Things will change when spring semester starts, which I'm also nervous about. My last community college class is at an unfamiliar campus, so I need to take a trip down to it sometime before my class starts to find where the classrooms even are. I'd rather not make myself panic trying to find the right room on day one.

Also, I get my tattoo tomorrow so I'm mentally preparing myself to be in pain for a couple hours straight. It will be smaller than my previous ones so I'm hoping I don't get tattoo flu this time. Getting the tattoo will probably feel cathartic though. Body mods always give me a mental health boost because they're a special interest of mine.

Write a love letter to fandom. It might be to fandom in general, to a particular fandom, favourite character, anything at all.

I haven't had a particularly outstanding experience in any one fandom, so my appreciation goes out to fandom spaces in general.

work was a real doozy today...well i'm home now, so i guess i'll try and relax while i play some cookie run kingdom (one of my besties got me re-addicted to the game. it's been a couple or so years since i last played though, so there's a LOT of changes i'm unfamiliar with! regardless, i'm still having a blast~)

Pets of Fandom: Loosely defined! Post about your pets, pets from your canon, anything you want!

An opportunity to talk about my cats? I'm definitely taking it. I have two: a tortie and a black cat, though the latter is more of a creature than a cat. 🤔

About my cats! )

Regarding fandom-related pets, the first one that came to mind was Steve, Rin Matsuoka's cat. Because Free! is really important to me. I remember seeing Take Your Marks in the theater when they were finally showing the movie in the USA. And when I say everyone, I mean everyone in that theater laughed their asses off once Rin muttered Steve's name with the most disdain the man could muster. It was great.

PUNKS△TRIANGLE by Yuho Okita
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Synopsis:
Fashion student Chiaki dreams of seeing his designs on the runway, worn by none other than Ai—the charismatic male model who changed his life. When a prestigious competition promises to make that dream come true, Chiaki is fired up to win. But his hopes are dashed when he’s paired with the clumsy and unfashionable Enaga for the project. One fateful night, after a run-in with some delinquents, Chiaki is unexpectedly saved by his idol Ai. Even more shocking, Ai seductively offers to teach him how to have fun at night…

Caught between the alluring, mysterious model he worships and a clumsy, rough-around-the-edges classmate who can’t seem to stay out of trouble (but may be hiding a surprising secret), Chiaki faces a heart-pounding, pure boy’s love dilemma that will turn his world upside down!

You might like this if you enjoy: Mutual pining, flirty top/inexperienced bottom, and… sensual piercing touching.

Since this is a favorite of mine, I must mention there's also a sequel series called PUNKS△TRIANGLE stitch, which is getting an official EN release by Seven Seas, and a drama adaptation that aired in late 2025!

Finally got around to playing some of these games this past week! I went into them blind to the game mechanics and any specific scenes that weren't animated (which I'm sure there's several of them). But, I did watch the anime and engage with the fandom as a teenager, so I was already quite familiar with the characters themselves. My thoughts, and potential spoilers, are under the cut.

The Icebreaker Challenge: Introduce yourself. Tell us why you're doing the challenge, and what you hope to gain from it.

I'm Moon! I'm in my mid-20's and joined DW a year ago to move away from short-form socmed. I enjoy a wide array of fannish things but mostly stay within the realm of animanga and video games. I write fanfics too! You can view my sticky intro here if you want to learn more about me and what I journal about. :)

Last year, I did the [community profile] snowflake_challenge for the first time and found it quite fun. I'm doing it this year to possibly meet new people on DW again and to have a reason to journal more about fannish things! Plus, I'll take any opportunity to force myself away from doomscrolling on Twitter.

Happy New Year to everyone! It snowed here a little last night, so we entered the new year with a nice thin blanket of new snow. And, while rewatching the Death Note English Dub lmao. This is what happens when you're homebodies who don't really socialize.

my 2025... )

In terms of writing, I'm at least happy to report that I ended [community profile] getyourwordsout this year with 113/120 days for my habit pledge. I'm doing the same pledge this year, because it's just simply the most realistic goal for me. I think the habit pledge might have actually somewhat formed a writing habit in me? I feel the urge to write more. Hopefully, it sticks in 2026. I would love to make the 120 days this time, since I was sooo close last year.

Also, I got an email about receiving an upgrade to a paid Dreamwidth account through their random sponsor program? So, I have that for the year now. Cool!

Happy New Year

A quick entry before we're heading off to the airport.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
I hope you had a lovely evening yesterday and that this year brings nothing but good things and lovely memories!

I have a few resolutions that I hope I'll be able to keep:

For one, I want to waste less time on mindless scrolling online. I've already kicked Twitter off all my mobile devices and logged out of it on my PC too. I also want to use Reddit much less, as it's full of bots and boring political talk anyway.

Instead, I want to pursue more productive endeavours: read more classics, pick Ancient Greek back up, learn skills that people my age should have (like sewing).

And most importantly, I want to cultivate a more positive mindset. I know I tried that last year too, but then I fell into a negative spiral because of certain fandom developments. No more, I say! From now on I a) won't actively engage in fandom anymore (which also means reading absolutely no fanfic, which I haven't been doing for months anyway), and b) block everyone who says something I don't agree with about a character I like. In the past I was always doubting my own interpretation of said characters if I saw someone depict them in a to me incomprehensible way, but now I know that it's not me, it's them. So if I don't see any strange takes, no one can limit my enjoyment of things.

Lastly, I also want to keep writing. After this months-long slump, I'm feeling more creative again. I won't be able to write while I'm away, but afterwards I want to return to my usual evening sessions.

May 2026 be productive! :)

Привет and welcome to our new Russian friends from LiveJournal! We are happy to offer you a new home. We will not require identification for you to post or comment. We also do not cooperate with Russian government requests for any information about your account unless they go through a United States court first. (And it hasn't happened in 16 years!)

Importing your journal from ЖЖ may be slow. There are a lot of you, with many posts and comments, and we have to limit how fast we download your information from ЖЖ so they don't block us. Please be patient! We have been watching and fixing errors, and we will go back to doing that after the holiday is over.

I am very sorry that we can't translate the site into Russian or offer support in Russian. We are a much, much smaller company than LiveJournal is, and my high school Russian classes were a very long time ago :) But at least we aren't owned by Sberbank!

С Новым Годом, and welcome home!

Thank you also to everyone who's been giving our new neighbors a warm welcome. I love you all ❤️

I spent about two hours last night trying to figure out how to make English patches work on my modded ps vita. It was kind of a headache, but I did it. I'm excited about finally being able to play at least one of the Amnesia fandisks now. Also, Dialovers!!! It's kind of crazy that I've been into these series for a decade and am only now getting to play them... Wild. I just have to get through a short shift at work tomorrow, and then I have a week off to potentially play through some 👀

Before work today, I also finished styling a wig for one of my cosplans. My spouse is obsessed with Lyney from Genshin Impact and thrifted his cosplay hoping he'd fit in it, but it actually fits me better. So, I'm going to be my spouse's anime husband for one of our next cons. (I also like Lyney but not quite to the same extent LOL.) I finally got his wig done today. I just need to make some minor alterations on the cosplay itself before it's con-ready. It's looking like we're both probably going to be doing a lot of Genshin cosplays next year. Unless a new hyperfixation emerges...

I think around the time I started posting here, I mentioned working on a Cloud cosplay. Which I plan to do again!! His wig got totally destroyed by Boston wind and sitting in my car for days after that so... I will be fixing him sometime soon. I only wore him for one day, and it wasn't a con. I want to actually bring him to one next year!!! Especially since my partner wants to be Aerith again as well. The last time he wore her, I was Noctis instead lol.

Movie day!

Merry late Christmas to those who celebrate!

I'm in the mood for writing a blog entry right now, so I figured I'd just do that. Honestly, I don't have that much to talk about, but I finally managed to watch a movie that's been on my list forever today, and I'm really happy about that. Even though it's the holiday season, I feel like lately I'm surrounded by pessimism IRL, and it's been weighing me down. I can't say I don't get it, I also have finals in a few weeks and I've also had a weird last months of 2025... But I'm not the kind of person to insist on that kind of feelings, so when it's all I see, it kinda pisses me off. Of course, this is an issue, and I don't go around telling people to suck it up, but I would be lying if I said it didn't bother me.

However, finally watching a movie really cheered me up. I haven't watched many movies in my life, and I don't really know why. I think that when I was a child, I saw them as something to be watched with others, since I had no other option but to go to the cinema with family, or watch a movie on the TV. Then, I grew up, and I stopped caring about that, but for some reason I rarely ever watched anything. It's such a big part of me ATP that even my friends are shocked when I tell them I've watched a movie!

Recently, though, I realised I could just change that if I wanted to. I can just watch things when I want to, especially with how broad the internet is. I think another reason I've rarely watched anything is because I don't use any streaming services, but that's not a problem when you can sail the seven seas, if you know what I mean lol.

I think movies are a very cool medium for storytelling, and I think I've come to appreciate the technicalities in them lately. Up until recently, I would just rate anything I liked a 10/10 — anime, books, plays... If I enjoyed it, that was enough. But there's a certain beauty to seeing the flaws in what you like, too. I've seen people say it kinda ruins the experience for them, but I disagree. I do have to admit, though, that I'm always looking for the good part of everything, so that might have to do with it. I don't think that's a problem though, I do like most of what I see and that's neat, even if it's not everyone else's cup of tea. We're all here to do our thing.

...All that, and I haven't even mentioned which movie I watched, lol. It was The Breakfast Club. It caught my eye because it's referenced in the main story of my favourite 18TRIP group, and now that I finally have some free time (university is a special kind of hellspawn, I swear), I figured I could watch it! I really liked it, though I am conflicted about the very ending. I won't spoil it, though. Overall, I'm giving it a 4/5.

I miiiight watch something else sometime soon, but I kinda just do whatever I want whenever I want, so I can't say for sure. For now, I'll tag this as ''personal'', and if I decide to log any movies I might watch properly, I'll make some kind of movies tag.

See you next time!
