I'm going to miss updating on the winter anime...

Free! (Episodes 1-2)
Since I finished Nana (as you may tell from the headings), I finally started the anime I'd say I'd watch after it, which was Free! So far so good; unlike other spokons I've read/watched, this one seems more oriented towards women (joseimuke, like a lot of mobile games) rather than towards boys or men, which was surprisingly. This shows not only in the story so far, but also on the staff: the director is the same as SK8's, and the soundtrack composer has also worked on franchises such as IDOLiSH7, which really gives off a specific vibe. It seems like it's rather long, so I hope I pull through it even if I'm as slow as I was with Nana!

Girls Band Cry (Rewatch of episodes 6-8)
My partner and I finally had some time to catch up with this anime during our Holy Week break, and so we continued! Episode 8 hits just as much as it did the first time with he confession and all, but I really like everything about the series. I had forgotten how good some of the insert songs in the middle of the season were — I prefer the first and last ones.

Maebashi Witches (Episodes 2-3)
As I mentioned last time, I didn't have many hopes with the first episode, but it's getting more interesting as it advances, so that's okay. I do have to mention that the Spanish Crunchyroll subtitles completely fumbled the line in which the woman they help mentions her (romantic) partner — how the hell do you translate koibito as «compañera»? That's a stretch! Anyway, I'm mostly intrigued by the last scene they showed before the credits... it was about time Mai took center stage.

Nana (Episodes 42-47)
I'M FINALLY DONE WITH IT!!! I started this all the way back in August, so it's still difficult for me to believe... Wow... While some parts dragged a bit longer than others, I really enjoyed the series overall. It's sad that it most likely won't be finished, but I think that, in a way (and hopefully without romanticizing it, because I'm aware it was because of the author's health problems and I don't want to talk about it as a good thing), it's kinda fitting for the story to remain unfinished, just as Hachi is still waiting for Nana. The soundtrack is also amazing, both the tracks by the bands and the BGM you hear during the episodes.

Solo Leveling S2 (Episodes 4-13)
I feel like this season was slightly better than the previous one, but I didn't enjoy it, either. I'm happy that Jinwoo was able to cure his mother, though, as that was the reason why he got stronger in the first place. I really hope this doesn't get another season any time soon, because I'm not going to want to watch it...

The Apothecary Diaries S2 (Episode 15)
Well, now we're back in business... I thought the episode was going to be more lighthearted, but I'm happy I was wrong! I'm very curious to see how other characters will react to Luomen coming back into the palace, if they even recognize him, that is. I also really want to know more about that mysterious eunuch, even though I'm pretty sure it's just Suiren in disguise after faking her death.

A few things out of the usual four today, but nothing much. However, I do have to say I'm very excited for the new Haikyuu movie and OVA!! Yay!!

BanG Dream: Ave Mujica (Episode 9)
About time they showed more of Uika! The scene in which she had intrusive thoughts about pushing Mutsumi down the stairs was absolutely terrifying —I thought she'd done that for real!— but also very realistic; I understand her. The episode ended on another scary spot, too... I didn't think the 10 girls (11, with Mortis) would reunite all of a sudden, but it's about time they talk out some things. That being said, I somehow wish Ave Mujica wasn't already established in the franchise, because the suspense about whether they'd be reuniting or left disbanded would be bigger, but that's multimedia franchises for you. Either way, I'm really liking it.

Girls Band Cry (Re-watch of Episodes 3-5)
My partner and I finally had some time to watch this together a few times, so we've almost gotten halfway through the story. I forgot how good the Shin Kawasaki songs were, and how hard-hitting Nina's flashbacks are, though we haven't reached the worst yet, I think... Now it's time for Tomo and Rupa to join the band! Yay!

Medalist (Episode 9)
Finally, Inori and Ema's performances! I really liked the scenes in the manga, so I was very eager to see how they would adapt them, and while they felt super short (which is understandable, considering they're supposed to be shorter routines), I liked them! I know most people would complain about the CGI, but it wasn't that bad. What matters the most is that their emotions were conveyed throughout the episode.

Nana (Episodes 33-34)
I continue with this anime, slowly but surely... And these episodes were heartbreaking, Jesus. I knew the strawberry glasses would break eventually because I'd already gotten spoilered online, but I didn't expect all that symbolism behind... I didn't think Nana would get that upset, considering Hachi had already fooled around a lot trying to cope herself and Nana hadn't had that much of a reaction, but it's still understandable. I really hope they can stay together, even after all of this... I also wonder what's up with Reira, but probably nothing good.

Promise of Wizard (Episode 8)
As a Central Revolution fan, this was one of the scenes I wanted to see animated the most, and it did not disappoint! It might seem a bit stupid, but back in my day we didn't even know for sure if the painting in the Granvelle Castle background was Alec or not, so getting direct confirmation was reassuring, lol. I also like how much of the dialogue is kept as it was in game — it brings up so many memories! I hope they don't rush things too much, though, considering there are not many episodes left in the season...

The Apothecary Diaries S2 (Episode 8)
Okay, I know it's sort of supposed to be a two-part episode, judging by the title shown in the preview of episode 9, but I really need more explanations after all that lore and backstory of the Imperial palace, lol. My refresher with the manga was really useful, because I think some characters I'd initially forgotten about were brought up again, yay! I fear for what will happen next week...

As with my readings, I also have a lot to catch up with here!

BanG Dream: Ave Mujica (Episodes 5-7)
After a few weeks of very intense episodes (although not as intense as the very first ones,) it was finally time for some calm and for crying a little, lol. I really liked the parallels of making both MyGO and CRYCHIC play Haruhikage in the Episode 7s of the seasons — and by the looks of Umiri, it seems there'll also be room for a "why did you play Haruhikage!?" moment as well.

Blue Lock S2 (Episodes 10-14)
I pushed through the last episodes and finished the season, though I was not very enthusiastic about it. The last episode's animation was pretty good, as most people commented, but at this point I just wanted to get it over with. It feels wrong to talk about one of my favorite matches like this, but I just didn't want the anime to sit around uncompleted any longer.

GIRLS BAND CRY (Re-watch of Episodes 1-2)
I watched this anime all the way back when it was airing last year, but I'm re-watching it now as my partner watches it for the first time, and wow, I forgot how good the CGI was! It's one of my favorite recent animes, so I wonder what details will I catch during this re-watch.

Given (Re-watch)
Speaking of re-watches... My parents decided it was time to watch it, so I watched it with them, although I wasn't feeling like it since I'd already read the manga a few months ago. As expected, the first season the best one, though I can feel the burnout kicking in. The most surprising part, however, was my father actually liking it. He tends to judge shows pretty harshly if they aren't his cup of tea, but he praised it for the realism in everything band-related, although he's not a romance fan.

Given Movie
Of course, watching the first season with my parents means we also watched everything else that was on Crunchyroll. It was my first time watching the movie even though I knew the story, so at least it was a new experience for me. I really think this should have been a second cour of the anime, though, because nothing about the storytelling, framing nor artstyle was distinguishable from the anime...

Given: Uragawa no Sonzai
And, once again, this should have been part of the first movie! I understand that Given was still on-going when S1 was released, but why not make an S2? I guess it's because of money and revenue, as it usually is, but as far as I know, Given is very well-known, and three movies could have easily been another 11-episode season... I do like Mafuyu and Uenoyama's relationship the best, though, so at least there was that.

Given: Hiiragi Mix
Lastly, we watched Hiiragi mix, and I think this was more enjoyable, although I didn't expect them getting together and debuting professionally as a band would take such a long arc in the manga and in the anime. These boys really do have some important communication issues, honestly...

Medalist (Episodes 5-6)
I haven't watched this week's episode yet, so that will go in next week, probably. Either way, these episodes were pretty good. I think they chose the right point in the series to backtrack and talk about Tsukasa's past with ice skating and the family that took him in, which was explained in the first chapter of the manga. This pause also meant that I could caught up with the physical volumes I have before the anime catches up to me, phew!

Nana (Episodes 28-32)
I've never brought it up in this blog before, but I've been watching Nana since summer, but took a 5 month break from it and only continued now... I even left it right before things started to go south again with Hachi's pregnancy, too... I really don't know how they're going to solve this or if Hachi will keep her child... The drama and relationships in this anime are super addictive, honestly —  it always leaves me wanting to know what happens next!

Oshi no Ko S2 (Episodes 7-13)
Another anime I'd been trying to finish since it started airing, but hadn't brought up yet here. It's a shame almost everyone dropped this after all the incest hints, because the second season was INFINITELY better than the first one. Aqua finally has an interesting conflict, Ruby gets some more focus, the metaphors brought forth by the stage play shed light on so many more characters and relationships, and the animation itself was incredible... I hope Season 3 keeps it up, though I think it goes downhill from a certain point onwards.

Promise of Wizard (Episodes 4-6)
We got to see everyone at last, as well as a surprising amount of Faust and Lennox moments, yay! I don't want the season to go by so quickly, but I'm so eager to watch the second half of the story animated, because that's when most of my favorite scenes happen. I feel like the animation is also slowly improving with each episodes, though the unreadable thought panels are still pretty annoying...

The Apothecary Diaries (Episodes 4-6)
I was already expecting Jinshi to have to dress up as the Moon Fairy from the moment they'd teased it (also because of the amount of merch they released the moment the episode in which he appeared in dropped, Jesus,) but the scene was pretty good regardless. I wonder if these sisters will show up more often, since the visits to the inner palace seem to play an important role in the conspiracy from what I remember with all the new smells and perfumes and such.
